Goodbye Walter
I've been a news junkie off and on for over 40 years. Walter Cronkite became the CBS news anchor the year my oldest son, John, was born (1962). He served us through many turbulent times: the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War, the Nixon tapes, and on and on. I bid you a fond farewell. You served us well, Walter.
Lately it seems like many of the people I've admired or at least associated with my life, are leaving this sphere. It makes me feel a little vulnerable.
In my life I've waited tables, raised sons, taught school, published books, and railed at politicians. I'm building a house, next to my son, where I can spend time with my granddaughter. I read, write, and dream about being immortal.

Well said, Smartz. I was in that same living room.
