Raising the Roof

The west wall goes up first. There's three 12-foot sliding glass doors on this side. An 8-foot roof overhang will help moderate the afternoon sun. The living room is connected to the garage (far left), then the kitchen, bath, and bedroom on the south end.
The east wall goes up next, in sections. Daisy's supervising. Good job, Daisy!
Next come interior walls (kitchen/bath and bath/bedroom).
The south wall, porch, and roof follow, including 31 roof trusses, one of the most challenging aspects of the project.
The framing crew enjoys on a well-deserved lunch of carnitas with all the trimmings. Thanks Amanda for putting lunch together, and to John and all the guys for helping make my dream a reality.

This is so exciting. Great sequence of photos and explanation. I can picture your giraffes in the living room now. Seems like those 12 foot sliders will be a challenge too. Irene

Yeah, the guys are already making noises about how fun the sliders are going to be. But look at all the light! Can't wait to have a gathering.

I'm speechless! From my perspective, this is warp speed! (Great photos by the way!)

Since the photos, the roof is about half covered in plywood, getting ready for the roofers to come do the red tile to match the main house.
