Barack and Me
A story old as time: parents die, divorce, go away to look for work, or just disappear. Grandparents step in to make sure the children are fed, clothed, educated. With luck, they're not too damaged by abandonement. And sometimes--with structure and security and unconditional love--they thrive.
In my life I've waited tables, raised sons, taught school, published books, and railed at politicians. I'm building a house, next to my son, where I can spend time with my granddaughter. I read, write, and dream about being immortal.

Sandra, I LOVE this photo and your comments. The tone reminds me exactly why you're such a perfect editor choice for my book.
